Space NJJBA Levels of Play

Do you have questions regarding the various "Levels of Play" in NJJBA?

NJJBA strongly believes that the competitiveness of a child lies solely within the individual regardless of the child´s baseball skill level. Within NJJBA and JCJBL there are four (4) distinct levels of play to accommodate every child´s skill level.

  • "0" League/Majors/Jeffco Competitive
This level typically consists of the most skilled players. 4 to 6 additional league games are played compared to the other levels. Increased levels of time commitments are also expected at this level. Number of games range from 16 to 20 for league in addition to the team's choices for Tournaments, which can average 1 or more per month of the season. Players must tryout for this level every year.

  • Level 1/AAA
This league level consists of players of a skill level at or slightly below “0” League/Majors/Jeffco Competitive. This level also has a high commitment expectation but is slightly less-stringent. Note that while league schedules may be less than the above, averaging 14-18 games, teams can also average approximately 1 or more tournaments per month.

  • Level 2/AA
This level consists of players who remain competitive but are less-skilled than the above levels. Parental input is encouraged to advance the players skills. League schedules consist of approximately the same games as Level 1/AAA but fewer tournaments are played and time commitments are less stringent.

  • Level 3/AA
This level is for players who require additional skill development and have less of a desire to participate in tournaments. Parental input is strongly encouraged to assist in the player´s development. A large emphasis is placed on developing and improving basic skills. Time commitments are less stringent.

On the NJJBA Registration form, the following options are available to select the level of play:

  • WILL play “0”/Major League

  • WILL NOT play “0”/Major League

Based on the selection of these options, we will attempt to place your child in the appropriate level of play. Please note that if you want to change levels of play in the 10 through 14-year-old age groups, players must enter the tryouts. In addition, during all tryouts, NJJBA will employ independent evaluators to assess each player´s skill to ensure as much as possible an appropriate placement of your child.

If, after reading this information, you still have questions please don't hesitate to reach out to the NJJBA Board of Directors. In most cases, email works best and you will get a faster response. Email addresses can be found on the Contact Page. You may also go to the Feedback Form and submit your question via this method. Lastly, the Contact Page also contains phone numbers to the Board of Directors voice mail system.

NJJBA is committed to providing our membership with clear and concise communication. If you have questions or require additional information we want to hear from you!
