Programs:
NJJBA offers four programs for our 8-and-under players:
The Tee-Ball League is for beginning players 4 and 5 years old and is played upon a scaled-down diamond with 50-foot base paths. The instructional emphasis of this league addresses basic development skills: throwing, catching, and running. A hitting "tee" is employed rather than pitching to put the ball in play.
The Machine Pitch Minors League is for 6 and 7 year olds progressing to additional basic instructional training and is played upon a 60-foot diamond. The Pitching Machine League employs a mechanical pitching machine operated by an adult to deliver pitches to batters during game play. The machine is set from 37MPH to 38MPH. All players bat every inning.
The Machine Pitch Majors League is for 7 and 8 year olds progressing to additional basic instructional training and is played upon a 60-foot diamond. The Pitching Machine League employs a mechanical pitching machine operated by an adult to deliver pitches to batters during game play. This league plays the 9 normal positions and has 3 outs per inning. The machine is set from 38MPH to 40MPH.
The Instructional Kid Pitch League is for 7 and 8 year olds progressing to additional basic instructional training and is played upon a 60-foot diamond. The Kid Pitch League introduces kids pitching to opponents and falling back to coaches pitching if necessary to maintain the pace of the game. This league plays the 9 normal positions and has 3 outs per inning.
Please contact our 8 and Under Coordinator with questions about each program.
